Road Safety Week

Last year 14,254 children were killed or injured on British roads – an average of 39 a day. Free education resources are on offer for schools taking part in the 2019 UK Road Safety Week, which runs from November 18 to 24 and is organised by the charity Brake.

Support on offer includes assembly slides, lesson plans, interactive resources, activity sheets, advice and case studies showing examples of school activities from previous years.

The theme this year is “Step up for Safe Streets” and the week will focus on how everyone can do their bit for road safety. There will be an emphasis on the design solutions that can enable everyone to get around safely.

Pupils and students will be able to create and make their own road safety posters, videos and plays, explore whether streets near them are safe and look at whether changes in vehicle and road designs have made journeys safer and healthier.
