There is a fire of discontent among teachers, school leaders and parents which is burning fiercely with regard to two key issues: the public consultation on the proposed National Funding Formula (NFF) has just concluded and opposition to the Green Paper on selective grammar schools is gathering some serious pace.
The proposed introduction of new selective grammar schools and the NFF are arguably the two most controversial and contentious policies to emanate from Whitehall in the 13 years since I qualified as a teacher.
As a headteacher, I have come to realise that when a new educational initiative is launched by the government which is not going to result in a higher quality of education for students in my school, then I need to bang the drum of resistance the loudest.
