Diary of an NQT: The school show

NQTs
With many of her students starring in the school show, our NQT diarist was front and centre in the audience – something that her students really appreciated...

Last week I had the pleasure of going to watch the school musical.

Rehearsals had been going on for months and the intensity heightened in the weeks before. Most of my year 7 form were in it in one way or another, and many of the other students I teach too.

In the weeks running up to it, the students and staff involved were almost turning grey with exhaustion. The students playing the main roles had dark circles around their eyes and struggled to concentrate in class. The staff were taking lunch-time power naps to get through it all.

I think it was all worth it in the end though. The show was a huge hit! It all ran smoothly, no-one forgot their lines and it was (mostly) sung in tune!
