Diary of an NQT: Waiting for ‘Mocksted’

NQTs
The new term is already proving high-pressure as our NQT diarist faces the prospect of her first Ofsted. Before this, however, will come her first Mocksted…

Things seem a bit calmer so far this term, although I am worried that this is just the calm before the storm.

We had an hour-long meeting this morning with the first slide showing the dreaded title “Ofsted”. Thankfully, we haven’t had the call yet but the senior leadership team seems pretty certain that it will happen this term. We are on the hit list, they say.

The down-side of this is that, undoubtedly, this term will entail even more hoop-jumping than normal; tick the boxes to get that all-important “good”.

The positive news is that our department is already well prepared for such events. It was only a few weeks ago that we were “CAR-ed” (curriculum area reviewed) and thankfully we came out with flying colours.
