As I approach the conclusion of my second year as a headteacher, I have in recent weeks been thinking about the successes, failures and lessons learned during this period. A lot has changed in education in this short space of time and this has been one of the significant challenges for me.

However, not everything has changed. Indeed, many aspects of leadership will always remain, as enduring facets of what is required to successfully lead individuals, teams and schools. Change is temporary, nobody particularly likes it (teachers especially) and in recent years there are not too many educational reforms that I entirely concur with.
