SecEd's bi-annual NQT special edition is free to download and offers 10 pages of best practice guidance – both for trainee teachers and NQTs. This edition was published in June 2019.

Produced with support from the National Education Union, the June 2019 edition tackles a range of areas from behaviour and teaching practice to wellbeing and workload.

The download is for trainee teachers who are coming to the end of their training year and preparing for September and the beginning of their NQT year. It is equally aimed at this year's NQTs, who are soon to achieve qualified teacher status and will be thinking about their second year at the chalkface...

Advice on offer includes behaviour management, tips for looking after your own wellbeing and mental health, a light-hearted look at some of the bad advice that NQTs are often given (which you should ignore!) and what you should do instead, and tips on creating good classroom routines.

We also offer advice on reflecting on your NQT year, preparing for year two, building on and developing your practice, including your behaviour management, and more.

Finally, we hear from an NQT about their year at the chalkface and their hopes and plans for September. And we hear from a year 2 teacher who offers his advice.
