
When Jennie Johnson, managing director of Kids Allowed, recently wrote a blog entitled ‘Smoking and children do not mix…’ there was a big reaction from the sector. The feeling was that the move to ban smoking entirely from the nursery premises was both brave and long overdue.
As Jennie relates in her blog, the road to becoming completely smoke-free was a long one but the benefits have made it all worthwhile. Most important is that children and staff can now enjoy a healthier atmosphere. Second is that the move delivers tangible commercial benefits in highlighting that the provider is setting standards, rather than following them.
