EYFS AWARD LAUNCHED

CACHE's new Level 3 Certificate in Early Years Foundation Stage Practice integrates the basic principles of the EYFS and features a 'walk and talk'-based assessment in the setting. Candidates will also be required to submit a reflective task for each unit, which will enable them to develop the skill of reviewing their work on a daily basis. MENTORING TO WIN

The NDNA's Learning Mentors programme, developed in partnership with Allied Business Solutions, has been named as a winner in the National Training Awards 2007. Scooping first place in the Yorkshire and Humber regions, the programme was deemed to be effective in helping nurseries to create 'learning mentors', who oversee the delivery of training. HOW TO GAUGE EFFICIENCY

Opportunity Links has developed a training course to help local authorities carry out their childcare sufficiency assessments effectively. The three-day course covers the basics of sufficiency research, from planning to methodology, along with training on sufficiency tools and reporting. For details go to www.opp-links.org.uk.

HEALTHY UNDERSTANDING

The level 2 award in Healthier Food and Special Diets is a new qualification being offered by the Royal Institute of Public Health. It provides guidance on healthy eating and how to cater for special diets and covers the links between diet and health. Information is available at www.riph.org.uk.

BUILDING BESPOKE COURSES

Alliance Learning is now offering a new and improved range of leadership and management courses accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). The new qualification structure allows all Vocationally Related Qualifiations (VRQs) in management and leadership to be unitised, enabling UK businesses to build bespoke courses. PLA JUDGED 'OUTSTANDING'

Ofsted has judged the Pre-School Learning Alliance to be outstanding in providing training that meets the needs of early years practitioners.
