- 9-10 May. Playgroup Network National Conference: Let's Pretend. This conference will explore the importance of developing children's imaginations and whether we are helping or hindering this development in our playgroups and nurseries. Speakers include educationalist and performer Peter Dixon and early years practitioner and lecturer Ian Tothill.

- 14 May. National conference: Understanding children's play: playing, thinking and imagining. Delegates will hear from speakers including Penny Holland of the London Metropolitan University, Kate Peel of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, and Maulfrey Worthington, author and researcher at the Free University of Amsterdam, on topics such as assessing children's play, learning to trust children's interest in war, weapons and superhero play, and progression in children's play.

- 20 May. Inclusive practice in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Delegates will have opportunities to discuss current challenges to inclusive practice; specific issues around responses to behaviour which can be challenging; establishing and maintaining a positive relationship with parents; and supporting staff to be inclusive in their everyday practice.
