One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS), which supports lone parents, has launched its #EatHeatLearnPlay appeal to provide support to single parents who are disproportionately affected by rising costs, pushing children further over the poverty line.
Money raised through the appeal will be used to provide single parents in need with food vouchers, help towards fuel costs and support to help children learn and experience play
An Ipsos survey of parents in Scotland found that single parents have experienced financial hardship in greater proportions than couples with children, with more than half of single parents (58 per cent) reporting that they had found it harder to pay their bills compared to just 44 per cent of couples with one or more children (44 per cent).
