Ashbourne now operates the settings in central Leicester and Alfreton, formerly run by Harp.

According to Ofsted, the nursery in Alfreton was registered by Ashbourne in February and the site in Leicester central earlier this month.

Both nurseries were previously owned by the Harp Group which acquired them from Welcome last year when the company went into administration.

Nursery World reported last week that the Harp Group, which shut its Langho setting on Friday (14 April), now has 10 settings after purchasing 26 from Welcome.

This is the third Harp nursery Ashbourne, which shares a director in common with the Harp Group - Sarah Blyth, has taken over from the group.

Last December, Ashbourne took over the Harp nursery in Wellingborough after it closed the month prior when the boiler was condemned by an engineer and deemed a health and safety risk. At the time, it is understood the setting had not been receiving any Government funding due to the council’s refusal to do so since the summer.

Ashbourne Nurseries was established in 2008 by mother and son, Syeda and Imran Mehdi. The group now operates 26 settings.

Nursery World approached Ashbourne Nurseries for a comment, but they failed to respond.
