‘Authentic and truthful conversations’: MT partners with The Music Education Podcast

The teams will work together to continue to enlighten and inspire listeners on the crucial topics affecting music educators today.

Music Teacher magazine has joined forces with The Music Education Podcast, hosted by Chris Woods of the Chris Woods Groove Orchestra and brought to listeners by music education agency SoundStorm.

Launched in 2020 and released fortnightly, The Music Education Podcast invites a diverse range of guests to discuss the topics that are affecting the music education community today.

The conversations are enlightening and challenging, keeping listeners up to date and inspiring further discussion and development.

Previous guests include Richard Michael, Nate Holder, Rakhi Singh, Merv Young, Dr Ally Daubney, Darren Henley, Dr Liz Stafford, Jimmy Rotheram, Holly Ebony, and others.

The podcast will continue to be hosted by Woods, but he will be working with MT journalists to continue to uncover hot topics in music education and platform key voices within the sector.

As part of the partnership, Woods will create four articles for MT linked to podcast episodes, in which he will further explore the topics discussed.

Chris Woods said: 'The drive behind this podcast has always been to host authentic and truthful conversations with interesting people, to help inspire different perspectives and ideas in music education. SoundStorm and I are always working to broaden that conversation and to keep it current.

'So, I really couldn't think of a better bunch to be working with than Music Teacher – a publication that leads in uncovering the most current conversations in music education.'

Harriet Clifford, editor of Music Teacher, said: 'It’s great that MT is the new media partner for The Music Education Podcast. Chris’ ambition to uncover and interrogate relevant issues in music education is in line with my own aims for the magazine.

'I’m really looking forward to working with him to further utilise multi-media platforms and reach even more music teachers on the ground.'

Dan Somogyi, director at SoundStorm, commented: ‘We’re delighted and genuinely excited about the opportunities that this new partnership brings to reach an even wider audience with the podcast. What started as a lockdown project continues to grow its reach. We’re really look forward to seeing what Chris and Music Teacher develop moving forward.'
