The Sussex-based Bernardi Music Group has announced it will continue to offer its String Academy and will provide young musicians with the opportunity to perform with professional musicians at the 21st anniversary of the Shipley Arts Festival.
Founded by leading violinist and string educationalist Andrew Bernardi in 1989, the Bernardi Music Group (BMG) is composed of professional musicians from some of the UK’s leading ensembles and orchestras and aims to inspire students across the country; in recent years the group has raised over £3.5m for charities.
The year-round Sting Academy education programme sees British students taught by renowned string players and, as part of the scheme, young musicians have the opportunity to play with the BMG at festivals and concerts.
Also founded by Andrew Bernardi, the Shipley Arts Festival consists of concerts and events in local churches, schools and stately homes. The festival has built itself a reputation for specialist commissions of new works by much-loved classical composers, featuring performances inspired by the Sussex landscape. This year’s festivities will continue until November 2021.
The Bernardi Music Group also carries out cultural exchanges across the globe, with a forthcoming residency at the University of Macau, and previous tours to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and the Macau Greater Bay area, retaining a partnership with the YuYan art Investment Group.
