Shane the Chef will be broadcast on Channel 5 on weekday mornings and follows the exploits of young chef and single dad Shane and his daughter Izzy as they try to source fresh dishes for Shane’s restaurant.

The series, aimed at four- to six-year-olds, is supported by the British Dietetic Association, and is accompanied by a range of online activities, including tips on preparing food in an age-appropriate way.

Oliver Ellis, joint managing director of Hoho Entertainment, which produces the programme, said, ‘The thinking was about developing an animated character whose occupation as a chef gave us an opportunity to talk to a kids’ audience about food, particularly fresh food.’
