The rally was organised by the charity 4Children and saw mums and dads march towards Parliament Square with pushchairs in an attempt to raise awareness of the need for childcare that is high quality and affordable. They were asking political parties to offer more support with costs and logistics.
A 4Children poll conducted earlier this year found that of the parents who are paying for their own childcare, almost a fifth are considering reducing their hours or giving up their job to take care of their children for financial reasons.
Sixty-two per cent of respondents thought childcare should be an election priority.
