One Stop Childcare, a community organisation with charitable status, provides childcare to more than 300 families in Edinburgh through its 22-place early years unit, 70-place pre-school nursery, three out-of-school clubs and community creche service.
In May it will change its name to smilechildcare and will offer childcare services to the corporate market through the trading arm, smilemorechildcare.
Depute chief executive Yvonne Beresford said, 'Our new enterprise will focus on providing workplace creches for companies and care for children at social events, such as weddings.'
The organisation, which has an annual turnover of 1m, receives just over half of its income in grants. But recent cuts in funding have forced it to look at other ways to bring in revenue.
Ms Beresford said, 'We are a forward-thinking organisation. In order to secure growth and remain viable we have come up with a detailed business plan that focuses on bridging the gaps in the current market.'
