The potentially harmful chemical, which has been found to increase the risk of breast cancer in children, will no longer be used in the production of baby bottles from 1 March. The European Commission's decision follows calls from scientists in the US, Britain and Italy, who said such plastics are putting the public's health at risk (News, 14 April).
