Child poverty call

The Government is being urged to scrap the Child Poverty Bill and replace child poverty targets by the think tank Policy Exchange. Its report Poverty of Ambition says the Government's way of defining and measuring poverty is 'badly flawed' as it only relates to income and that the new Bill is more to do with redistributing incomes and increasing welfare payments. It wants the Government to focus on the causes of poverty, such as growing up in jobless or broken homes or in care. Visit www.policyexchange.org.uk.
