Childcare and Education T level content published

The detail of the education and childcare T-level has now been published.

The content and specifications of the new technical qualification is now available after being approved last week by The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

The technical qualification is a key part of the T level and contains core content (non-specialist content covering children from 0-19) and specialist early years content. The industry placement, a minimum of 750 hours, and English and maths at level 2 make up the rest of the T level programme.

T-Levels, which are a vocational alternative to A-levels, will be piloted from this September, and in time are expected to replace the college-based Early Years Educator qualification at Level 3.

Julie Hyde, NCFE Executive Director Education & Training Strategy, said: ‘This announcement comes at an especially challenging time for our sector, and one which highlights the integral role that educators and childcare practitioners play within our society. It is now more than ever that we see how essential it is that our future childcare workforce is equipped with the highly skilled practitioners it needs. We are therefore proud that this T Level will help create opportunities for learners to enter the workforce, and ensure that they have been trained to the highest of standards.’

The industry placement will be arranged by the training provider offering the T Level.
