The Tate Modern gallery on London's South Bank was the venue for the event, organised by the Kids' Clubs Network in association with Nursery World.
Playworker of the Year Linda Middleton was personally congratulated by Cherie Booth. Ms Middleton has worked at Parkstone Kids' Club in Hull for five years. Club co-founder Susan Inglis said she nominated her because 'Linda has an inherent passion for making a difference and adding value to the life experiences of children at the club.'
Helen Jennings, winner of Prima Childcarer of the Year, was nominated by people in her local community in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, for her personal qualities and her work combining multiple duties as a childminder, toddler group leader, playscheme organiser and school fundraising committee treasurer.
Prima Baby Nursery Worker of the Year was Anne Steele from Mountain Ash Day Nursery in Mapperley, Nottingham, whose manager Donna Barker said, 'She is the most dedicated, inspirational, supportive nursery nurse I have ever known'.
Lindsay Barrett, a registered childminder from Southwark, London, won Childminder of the Year, nominated by a parent, Charlotte Berger, who said, 'What makes her really special is her ability to relate to the children she cares for, and the intuitive way she deals with their ups and downs.'
Playtime Out-of-School Club at ABC Nursery in Cullompton, Devon, won the Most Creative Activity Programme for its consultation with children in organising imaginative activities.
