The charity interviewed 88 children aged six to 12, and disabledchildren aged up to 18, about their experiences and views on childcarefor its DCSF-funded project Listening to Families.
Respondents saw access to activities and facilities, and gainingindependence from families, as the main benefits. Negative commentsrelated to bullying, being unsafe and high costs.
The younger children said they wanted staff to be caring and parentfigures, while older children were keen to have young fit staff who canjoin in activities.
The main reason the children used childcare was because their parentswork, but they saw it as a positive, safe and fun option.
