Children's TV gets cooking

Pre-school children can get a hand in learning how to cook with the help of a new programme on CBeebies television.

'I Can Cook' features presenter Katy Ashworth trying out a range of recipes with a group of children aged between three and five.

Cooking consultant Sally Brown, who came up with the concept with her business partner Kate Morris, said, 'Our aim is to get as many children as possible cooking and learning this valuable life skill. It is about teaching children what goes on in the kitchen and letting them see how enjoyable cooking is and giving them transferable skills.

'We don't do any cooking that involves using the hob, as this wouldn't be appropriate for the children and they are obviously not involved with getting food in and out of the oven.'
