Christina Coker OBE has been awarded a fellowship of Guildhall School, announced on 5 November at the School’s graduation day ceremony for the Class of 2021.
The School’s highest accolade, fellowships are elected annually by the School’s board to recognise ‘outstanding achievement or service’ to Guildhall by past and present staff members, members of the board, and former students.
Coker served on Guildhall’s board of governors for nine years, providing ‘invaluable’ insight and expertise in safeguarding, and was also a board sponsor for the School’s activities with children and young people under the age of 18.
She has also held the position of CEO of the National Foundation of Youth Music, working specifically on widening access and community engagement.
In 2005, Coker was awarded an OBE for services to music education, and also has honorary fellowships from Trinity Laban, Bangor University, and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
