Co-op Childcare (formerly known as Co-operative Childcare) has acquired Tavistock Day House Nursery in Sunderland, Hetton Day House Nursery in Houghton le Spring (Sunderland) and the Seaham Day House Nursery in Seaham, County Durham.
With the new acquisitions, the group now provides over 3,600 childcare places across its 47 settings, employing more than 1,300 nursery practitioners.
It comes three years after Co-op Childcare’s last acquisition in 2016 when it bought four nurseries in the Midlands.
Last year, Co-op Childcare re-branded eight of its nurseries to Little Pioneers.
Sally Bonnar, Co-op Childcare’s chief operating officer, said, ‘This acquisition comes after a strong period of growth and building on the success of our nurseries in the north east is a natural next step. As Co-op Childcare continues to go from strength to strength, we will seek to continue to expand here in the north east and across the country.
