ContactPoint changes

A consultation to update the rules governing ContactPoint was launched last week by children's minister Delyth Morgan.

Changes proposed by the Government include: listing children whose parents live overseas but who go to school in England, replacing the term 'parental responsibility' with the word 'parent' and the term 'targeted and specialist services' with 'additional services', hiding the name of a parent or carer when their child's name is shielded, and making it clear that where relevant, more than one address for a child can be entered. Practitioners are due to start training on how to access ContactPoint from the end of this month. To respond to the consultation go to www.dscf.gov.uk.
