This delicious and almost foolproof recipe makes an ideal cooking activity for younger children, although it is suitable for any age. The oaties can be any shape, and irregularities are of no importance.

For 12 oaties:

80g rolled oats (not jumbo); 80g 'brown' flour (or 50-50 wholemeal and white); 50g sugar; 110g butter, melted oil for greasing; 4 small mixing bowls; tea spoon; small fork; greased baking sheet

Preparation

Put the ingredients for each child in little bowls on a small tray, along with the spoon and fork. Have the butter in the largest bowl. The children can then simply tip the dry ingredients into the butter.
