The guide, It's Child's Play stresses the importance of play andexplains what parents can expect from the EYFS, which became statutoryin all early years settings from Monday (1 September).
The free leaflet provides an introduction to the EYFS, how it willaffect providers and how it will be implemented.
It seeks to reassure parents that the framework is play-based and notabout formal learning.
The booklet says, 'It's not about introducing a curriculum for youngchildren. Or making them read or write before they're ready. Quite thereverse. It means being sure each individual child is learning throughhigh-quality play, that's tailored to them.'
There is also a media pack, primarily aimed at journalists, Everythingyou need to know, which includes case studies and details of the earlylearning goals.
