Three sets of linked guidelines, published by the Government in collaboration with Scope and the Royal National Institute for the Deaf, show how services can be family-centred and integrated, with access to the latest health technology.
Launching the guidance at the Phoenix Centre in Bromley, Kent, a facility providing multi-agency support for nought to five-year-olds with a range of disabilities, Sure Start minister Catherine Ashton said it was crucial to ensure that children got the right support from the start. 'If a disabled child's needs are identified early and they get the right support they will be better prepared for school, and schools in turn will be in a better position to continue to help them.'
