Most of us will have fond memories of hours spent playing with a doll's house or a toy fort but what a wealth of different miniature environments there is available to today's generation of young children. 'Small world play' has expanded to include magical castles, complete with knights, horses and a resident royal family, a multi-storey block of flats, even an igloo, not to mention a whole range of hospitals, fire stations and garages, all offering limitless hours of imaginative play.
