Editor's letter

As spring approaches most of us get the urge to brighten up or change our environment. Whether you are contemplating buying new furniture, restocking your toy cupboards or wondering what you can do about your less-than-inspiring outdoor area, do nothing before you have thoroughly perused this issue. It's jammed full of new products, resources and contacts to help you make the changes you want. The renovation of school playgrounds is currently big news in the education world and we have chosen to make it one of our main stories, too. True, much playground equipment can be prohibitively expensive, but there is a number of modular units which can be added to as and when funds are available, so we hope we have found something to suit everyone's budget. It's amazing how original many schools have been - read about some of them on page 28.

We have also looked at furniture, both for the baby room and your after-school club. On page 16 you will find our selection of the best highchairs, low chairs and play tables for your youngest children, while on page 34 you can see the latest in workstations and accessories to help organise your computer areas. And if the mention of a computer still gives you a sinking feeling it's probably time you got yourself some training (see page 18)!

Dolls are invaluable in the nursery but can easily become battered and scruffy. If it's time for you to replenish your supply, you are sure to love the great new selection we have hunted down (page 14). And we all love working with dough or clay, which are especially suitable for your after-school club. Check out just how many different modelling materials and accessories are available on page 32.

Of course, that's not all. There are extra pages of product news, plus three great prize draws, as well as the usual wide variety of products we have had especially tested for you.
