That mood was savagely destroyed, of course, by the appalling terrorist attacks in central London on Thursday morning, one occurring fairly close to the Nursery World offices. Many nurseries and childminders, as well as the families they serve, were affected by the events and their aftermath.
Our lead news story this week (see page 4) shows just how magnificently and calmly they responded, putting emergency procedures into operation, communicating with parents and keeping children safe and happy until their families could reach them. Many will now be using their skills to reassure the children, alleviate their worries and make sure that life returns to normality as quickly as possible.
