Engaging fathers

Working With Parents
Most fathers are 'good enough' but some still need more help, says a study by the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners.

The study, the result of an extensive literature review, highlights ten key messages for practitioners to keep in mind when delivering services to parents. These include: two parents are better than one; family based services are more likely to engage fathers; the majority of UK families consider the father to be the main breadwinner; and mothers are likely to hold the key for engaging fathers. The research coincides with the Government's Families and Relationships green paper. To read the full report go to www.parentingacademy.org.
