This is a large-format book with easy to read sections. Its aim is to offer support in sorting out the 'fundamentals' of a setting so that 'everything else should follow on effortlessly'. The tone of the book is supportive and very realistic about the challenges.
The authors talk in practical terms about the day-to-day running of what I assume to be only pre-school settings (they refer to reception classes as 'big school'). They are especially clear about the need for flexibility, tempering their advice with provisos and circumstances where an alternative approach might apply.
