Extra guidance on revised Development Matters available now

Julian Grenier has released a new publication, the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage: Principles into Practice, to accompany the Revised Development Matters guidance.

The independent guidance is intended to support practitioners, teachers and settings in understanding the updated Development Matters.

Dr Grenier, head of Sheringham Nursery School in Newham, led on the development of the Revised Development Matters guidance, which was published in September.

The new publication is available as a free download, or to buy as a printed book from http://development-matters.org.uk

Commenting on Principles into Practice, independent early years consultant. Jan Dubiel, said, ‘This document explores the rationale and context behind the changes and elaborates the guidance to fully inform everyone involved in EYFS provision. It details the thinking behind these developments and plots the course of how we create, support and sustain a responsible and informed approach to delivering the EYFS.’

Readers of Nursery World can also learn more about the revised EYFS, which is due to become statutory next September, in a new series by Dr Grenier.

The first article, published in our November issue and available online here, looks at the first two key features of effective practice within the document: ‘The best for every child’ and ‘High quality care’.
