DfES officials have moved to correct a mistake in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework after it was brought to their attention by an EYFS improvement manager in Leeds.
Teresa Todd noticed the misprint in appendix 2 of the document, which gives details of the ratios and qualifications required for nursery classes in maintained schools. She explained, 'Bullet point 3 in this section currently reads that the other adult must have a relevant level 2 qualification - not level 3, as had been stated in the draft and consultation documents.
'When I read this I was dismayed that this had been slipped in after the formal consultation process.' Ms Todd was concerned that people responsible for recruiting staff for nursery classes in schools might be misled into thinking that only a level 2 qualification was required.
