The New Child in Focus is a revised version of the PLA's Child in Focus and includes advice on using computer technology.
The book aims to help practitioners gain a deeper understanding of children's unique developmental pathways, considering various methods of observation, including the use of ICT and creative means of documenting and recording.
Each chapter has questions for reflection and links to the EYFS, with ideas to consider when working with teams and parents.
Ruth Pimentel, professional adviser and former national director for early years at National Strategies, said, 'High-quality early years provision depends on practitioners having an understanding of how children learn. This book makes essential reading to support the development of skills in observation and assessment in line with the requirements of the EYFS.'
