The television channel commissioned a survey of 1,000 adults and 500teenagers for an observational documentary series, 'The Family', whichaims to present a portrait of modern British family life.
The survey found that 39 per cent of parents think they are doing abetter job of raising their children than their parents did, while 35per cent said they would log on to their child's social networkingprofile to check up on them. Sixty per cent of the mothers questionedclaimed they 'wore the trousers' in the household, while over a third offathers said they were the funniest family member.
Nine out of ten families said they sat down to eat dinner together, and13 per cent of parents said they had a 'favourite' child.
'The Family' starts on Channel 4 on 17 September at 9pm.
