Family centre service crosses communities

A 1m family support centre run by the children's charity NCH has launched a cross-community service in Northern Ireland. The Clooney Family Centre in Londonderry caters for children aged nought to 12 and their parents. It has a creche and a drop-in facility, and provides parenting education and support on an individual and group basis, play therapy and family contact and assessment services.

Project manager Bernie Tierney, who has worked in the area for 12 years, said she knew how much the new service would be used and appreciated by families in the Waterside area. 'Importantly, we are located in what is regarded as a "neutral" area, so all sections of the community can avail themselves of our services.'
