The choir from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in Hertfordshire had never entered the contest before but triumphed in the senior category, beating fellow finalists Oakham School and St George’s College, Weybridge.
The Tring Park choristers impressed the judges, who included mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins, conductor and composer Ken Burton, and West End star Connie Fisher, with their rendition of Daniel, Daniel Servant of the Lord.
The choir consists of 16 sixth-formers, all of whom are taking drama, dance, musical theatre and performance Foundation courses. Their school day is so busy that they are only able to rehearse together at lunchtimes.
