The Organix Foundation is interested in projects focusing on the impactsof nutrition, different methods of farming and different types of foodprocessing on children's well-being, growth and development.
Trustees from the Foundation, which was set up with profits from organicfood company Organix, met for the first time in September to shortlistproposals from the nine applications received so far. The Foundationsaid proposed projects range from teaching children about healthy eatingin nurseries and classrooms, to providing nutrition training forchildminders.
Lizzie Vann, founder of Organix and the Organix Foundation said, 'Whenwe set up our company in 1992 it was our intention to do two things - toprovide parents and carers with a choice of healthy foods for babies andyoung children, and to provide information to help them feed theirchildren well. Now that the company is well established, it feels rightto commit a substantial sum of our profits each year to supportingindependent research into the link between food quality and childhealth.'
