Free books u-turn

Education secretary Michael Gove has made a partial u-turn over the Government's decision to axe the 13m grant for programmes that provide free books for babies and children.

A joint statement by Booktrust and Mr Gove said that while current freebook schemes would end in April, the DfE was in discussions withBooktrust about developing a new scheme.
