BBE Foundations is offering free 2-hour workshops for beginner and junior brass players over the Easter holidays.
The workshops will include musical activities, play-along opportunities and a new arrangement of sea shanty The Wellerman, which has been commissioned by Matt Kingston of Big Shiny Brass for the morning session. Several works by Alan Fearnie will feature in the afternoon session.
Beginners, or those within their first few years of playing, can join at 10am, while the session for juniors, or those looking for ‘more of a challenge’ are invited to join at 1pm. Attendees are welcome to attend both workshops.
Streamed on YouTube, the sessions require registration beforehand and sheet music will be provided, but there will also be music-making opportunities for those who do not read music.
Sarah Baumann, education and development manager at Brass Bands England, said: ‘We’re delighted to be providing this free-to-access opportunity for young or beginner players to pick up their instruments and have some fun over the Easter break.’
The workshops will be delivered by BBE Brass Foundations youth development brass specialists.
