Play-Doh is offering free workshops to foster children's creative play linked to the EYFS.

Arts and crafts activity provider The Creation Station, has teamed up with Play-Doh to deliver 25 free creative and educational workshops for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 in nurseries and primary schools across the UK.

As part of the programme, participating settings will be able to choose one half-day workshop from a selection of three. Each has been developed to focus on key learning outcomes for the EYFS and Key Stage 1.

 The three workshops are:

Fantasy Island: ‘Get creative and model your own island’

  • For children in the EYFS, activities are linked to self-confidence and self-awareness, with specific areas of learning linked to expressive arts and design – being imaginative. For children in Key Stage 1, the workshop is linked to human and physical geography.

Selfie Time: ‘Explore and develop ideas, thoughts and designs around self-awareness topics’

  • Linked to managing feelings and behaviour and expressive arts and design – exploring and using media and materials in the EYFS. In Key Stage 1, the prime areas of learning dealt with are personal, social and emotional development with core themes of health and wellbeing.

Animal Magic:Help children explore, discover and develop their knowledge and skills through hands-on creative modelling'

  • Focusing on communication and language and understanding the world in the EYFS, and science in Key Stage 1, by identifying, naming, describing and comparing a variety of animals.

Sarah Cressall, founder and managing director of The Creation Station, said, ‘Learning through creative activities helps children own their learning and they explore, discover and develop a wide a range of skills. I’m delighted we can be able to support children and schools with these fun and educational based Play-Doh workshops.’
