Funding to create 1,300 new places

More than 1,300 childcare places are to be created in Northern Ireland following the New Opportunities Fund's final distribution of funds under the out-of-school programme there. The 1.3m given to 16 out-of-school projects creating 1,344 childcare places means that in four years the NOF has invested more than 9.2m and provided 13,800 childcare places across Northern Ireland. The last awards have gone to projects in Belfast, Armagh, Omagh, Fermanagh, Cookstown, Coleraine, Ballymoney and Craigavon.
