Kinderzimmer, which runs more than 35 settings in Germany, opened its first UK nursery in Muswell Hill last month. The Muswell Hill nursery provides care for 53 children and employs 12 staff.

It is to open a further two sites in Berkhamsted and Walton-on-Thames in the Autumn.

Kinderzimmer was established in Germany in 2011 and operates more than 35 settings across Hamburg and Munich.

In 2021, the co-founders of the nursery group Karina Kruse and Melf Kruse, sold a majority stake of the business to private equity firm – Franz Haniel & Cie.

The food served at the settings will be supplied by caterer Nursery Kitchen.

Vishav Roma, managing director of kinderzimmer UK, said ‘With a decade-long legacy in Germany, kinderzimmer has grown into a group of over 35 nurseries (kitas). We believe there is a market-gap in the current UK offering, with an increasing demand for holistic development and a solid education foundation. kinderzimmer is well poised to bridge this gap with an educational ethos that resonates seamlessly with the values and aspirations of UK parents.

‘As we expand across London and the home counties, we are committed to providing our children with experiences that offer independence, exploration and wonder.’

On the partnership with Nursery Kitchen, he added, ‘We are very excited with our new partnership which will enable us to keep high-quality food and nutrition consistent within our nurseries.’
