The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) sayseveryone who comes into regular contact with children has a role to playin ensuring they exercise for one hour a day, as advised in Governmentguidelines.
It says that early years providers should offer daily opportunities forvarious physical activities and make sure children have access toenvironments that motivate them to explore, such as adventureplaygrounds, parks and fun trails.
It says local authorities should ensure there are playgrounds and indoorfacilities where children can enjoy physical activity in safety.
Professor Mike Kelly, public health director of NICE, said, 'It'simportant that we let children play, and don't let society's aversion torisk stop young people from being physically active.'
