* Value the physical care routines; personal and affectionate care is central to children's sense of security. * Take your time in care and other activities with children. Babies and toddlers who are rushed do not feel emotionally safe, nor can they learn when they are frequently anxious.

* Be ready to notice if children's words and actions suggest that they feel uneasy, as well as if they look really happy. Look for ways to support and encourage.
