The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation has given the grant to the second'Supporting Young Children's Thinking' project. The British Associationfor Early Childhood Education (Early Education) has appointed earlyyears consultant Marion Dowling as project director.
Ms Dowling said, 'The materials from the first project continue tosupport training in ways that adults can provoke children's thinking.Our new venture will attempt to go one step further and capture babiesand children thinking in their self-initiated play.'
Liverpool City Council and Sefton Council, who are also contributingfunds, will choose expert practitioners representing daycare,childminding, sessional care and children's centres for the project.Children from birth to five years are to be filmed to outline six orseven different scenarios. A DVD and written guidance will be launchedby spring 2008.
