The award recognises Kidsunlimited's staff training provision. It runs 48 nurseries and employs more than 1,300 staff. At any one time the company has more than 160 learners taking their childcare apprenticeship course in nursery-based training facilities.
Julie McGee, head of training and development, said, 'Our learners feel well supported by our dedicated learning and development department.
Everyone is committed, from the senior management team right down to nursery staff. We offer learners flexible working patterns and our training programme has increased staff retention.'
Two Kidsunlimited nursery apprentices have also won acclaim in the Learning First Awards for Young Learners sponsored by the NES. Matt Beety from Lynda Ellis Nursery in Sheffield came first and Judith Mitchell of Countess of Chester Hospital Nursery was runner-up.
