IfA extends early years T-Level consultation again

The deadline for the consultation on the Education and Childcare T-level has been extended again until the end of the month.

It is the second time that the deadline has been changed. Initially the consultation on the content of the first three T-Levels to be rolled out from 2020 was intended to run for just five days, but in response to criticism this was then extended until 10 June.

In addition to Education and Childcare, the draft outline for the T-Levels for Construction (design, surveying and planning), and Digital (digital production, design and development) are also out for consultation.

The Association of Employment and Learning (AELP) had raised concern about the quality of feedback to the consultations given the short timescale, with chief executive Mark Dawe branding the five-day deadline as ‘staggering’.

Now the Institute for Apprenticeships has confirmed on its website that the deadline for responses to the consultation has been extended until midnight on Friday 29 June.

The IfA said it would publish the final content for the three T-Level pathways in autumn 2018.

As Nursery World revealed this week awarding bodies and sector organisations have raised concerns that the Education and Childcare T-Level will not equip students with a licence to practice, so it is still unclear whether qualified students will be able to count in ratios at Level 3.
